The Word of Christ ~ Sunday Devotion
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16 (NKJV)
The word of Christ must be our foundation and then weaved in and through every part of our lives. That includes our approach to healthy living.
God’s Word provides wisdom for your situation. The word of Christ is a textbook for living. Scripture counsels and cautions us as we move forward in life.
The first step of building your healthy life on a foundation of faith is to seek God’s Word. Set aside diet books, and read the Bible. Learn what the Lord says about you. When you start seeing yourself through the lens of scripture, you’ll care for yourself differently. Instead of being motivated by guilt and shame, you’ll be motivated by the love of Christ. You have value, and you were created on purpose for a purpose. That purpose is not to lose weight but to be a good steward of all that God has entrusted to you – your gifts, your calling, the people in your life, and your body.
Once you recognize who you are in Christ, then let His Word be your guide in how you choose to care for yourself. Find scripture that speaks to you and that will help to motivate you to care for this one body God has entrusted to you. He’s given you this body, this life, because He has plans for you. You simply need to be healthy (no size required) so that you are free to do what He’s calling you to do.
The word of Christ must be your foundation. It’s solid. It’s dependable. It’s what will lead you to a fit and free life.
Action Step: Instead of picking up a magazine or book or scrolling another online article to find healthy living tips, turn to the Word of Christ this week. Find a verse that you can apply to your health. One such verse that we use regularly in my Faith and Fitness Membership is 1 Corinthians 6:12: everything is permissible but not all things are beneficial. What verse will you use this week?
