Who Is It For? ~ Sunday Devotional

“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 (NIV)

What’s your motivation?

Do you have a strong why?

This verse is one we should use every time we are faced with a decision or set a new goal.

Who am I doing this for?

Am I looking for approval from someone?

I recently started coaching women who are ready to heal their relationship with food and stop obsessing about what to eat, when to eat, and how to lose a few more pounds.

But the first order of business has nothing to do with what they’re eating or not eating.  We talk about why they want to take this step and what’s motivating them.

I ask each person to find a verse that speaks to her and will help her stay focused on the part that matters…breaking free from diet mindset and learning to feel good in her body, the one God has entrusted to her.

Too often we set goals that only have external benefits and outcomes.

In the case of weight loss, those goals are often about looking better, getting someone’s attention, or competing with another.  These results will never last.

But when you take an integrated approach to our health and wellness and have your motivation firmly set on God’s Word, then you’ll get sustainable lasting results.

Your motivation won’t be about a number on a scale but about being free to live the life God has designed for you at this age and stage of life.

What’s your motivation?

Sit with today’s verse.  If the answers aren’t aligning with what you want your life to be about, make some changes.  Start by finding a verse and committing to your audience of One.

Happy Sunday!
