What Are You Wearing? ~ Sunday Devotional

What are you wearing?

These days, you’re probably keeping it casual and comfortable.  Whether we’ve been ordered to stay at home or not, 90% of the time you’ll find me in comfortable clothes – shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, yoga pants…jeans if I’m “dressing up.”  ha!

What I’m comfortable in and what makes me feel good may be very different from your style, and that’s okay.  I’m no fashionista and that’s why today’s post has nothing to do with what you’re wearing on your body. Today’s post is about Colossians 3:12-15.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

God has a dress code for us.  Wear compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness.  He even tells us what type of “overcoat” to wear: Love.

When we dress like this, peace begins to rule in our hearts and this leads to gratitude.

Now more than ever we need to be concerned about what we’re clothing ourselves with daily.

The kiddos who are at home with us are watching.  They need us to be compassionate and kind and patient.  We can’t be those things on our own. Daily, we need to go to God’s closet – His Word – to dress appropriately.

Finally, the overcoat of love.

The world needs His love.  We can be the ones to share that with others when we dress the way He desires for us to.

You may not be going to a worship service today but you can still take some time to dress for the Savior.

Happy Sunday!
