What Are You Pursuing? ~ Sunday Devotional

“Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.” Romans 14:19 (NIV)

In the New King James Version the first part says, “Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace.”

What are you pursuing?

Is it leading to peace?  Peace in your heart?  Freedom of your mind?

Is what you’re pursuing helpful and uplifting to others?  Does it make you and those around you feel better?

For years, I pursued weight loss.

That was my number one goal in life.

I just wanted the number on the scale to go down.

I was a Christian and yet I was pursuing something extremely superficial.

When I was feeling insecure, the people around me suffered from my negative attitude.

I saw other women as competition rather than my sisters in Christ.

There was no peace in my mind and my heart.

I desperately wanted it but I didn’t pursue it.  Instead, I pursued the next diet.

I spent time in the Bible searching God’s Word for peace but when I finished I went to the internet to search for another weight loss tactic.

Praise God for His mercies as well as others who were living this verse.  Because of that, I connected with other women who were pursuing peace in the area of their body image and doing it together to support and encourage one another.

God set me free and then I started living this verse more fully.  As a result, I now help women develop a sustainable healthy lifestyle so that they are free to enjoy their current season of life, not with diets or exercise plans but by implementing my signature Faith and Fitness Framework™.

What are you pursuing?

If you’re missing God’s peace and feeling alone, spend time in prayer today and ask God to search your heart.  Think about what you’re pursuing and consider reaching out to someone for support and encouragement.

Happy Sunday!
