Where the Spirit of the Lord Is ~ Sunday Devotion
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
Even though God set me free years ago, I’ve still had days, and even seasons, when I struggled. I struggled to stay focused on Jesus. I struggled not to be distracted by a new diet, gimmick, or quick fix. I’d feel myself going backwards, back to the days when weight loss worries plagued my mind. The days when I questioned everything about myself – my looks, my body, my running, how I was doing as a wife and mother.
On those days, I simply felt “off.” But that’s when the Holy Spirit led me to this verse. “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
Where the Spirit of of the Lord is there is freedom. If you're not experiencing freedom, it's time to invite the Lord into your situation. Share on X
I was feeling anything but freedom. In fact, I felt like I was back to my days of wandering that desert like the Israelites and feeling bound by weight loss worries and insecurities in every area of my life. So I had to ask myself, “Is Christ first in my life? Am I fully surrendered?”
I had allowed things to get out of order in my life. Thankfully the Lord is always available to us. He is ready to resume first place in our lives once we allow Him to. He never pushes Himself on us. We must choose to give Him the top spot.
I don’t like me or my life when He’s not first, and when I’m not surrendered to Him. When I start to feel something other than freedom, I ask myself, “Am I allowing the Spirit of the Lord to rule in my life?” You can be sure that I take a moment to ask for His forgiveness and to lay it at His feet once again. I don’t want to operate any other way than with the Spirit of the Lord guiding my life.
How about you? Are you experiencing freedom in your life? If not, that can change with a simple prayer.
Action Step: The Lord came and died to set you free. Have you accepted His love and forgiveness and followed His path to freedom? If not, or if you’ve become distracted, you can change that today by surrendering your will to His plan for you. There’s nothing better than living fit and free!
