Stay ~ Sunday Devotion
My steps have stayed on your path; I have not wavered from following you. Psalm 17:5 (NLT)
The only way to not waver is to hold on tightly to the Lord. Because of the psalmist’s confidence in the Lord, he stayed on the path. Now that I have fully committed to Him, I, too, want to stay on the path God has paved for me. I am confident that His way is the only way.
I started following the Lord at a young age, but I wavered. I veered off the path when it came to how I viewed and cared for the body He entrusted to me. That was the thing that preoccupied and distracted me. It was the struggle that enticed me to look elsewhere for guidance. It might be the same for you or something else. Satan wants nothing more than to cause us to waver instead of staying on God’s path.
Diets, gimmicks, and quick fixes lured me away from the path God had prepared for me. Those only led to frustration and defeat. Eventually, I realized that I needed to get on God’s path for my fitness and stay there.
For the last 10 years, I’ve been intentional in seeking and staying on His path for all things in my life. Although I’m not perfect, I’ve learned that it’s safest to stay where He is. He’s proven to be faithful, and His ways are tried and true. I trust the guidance of the Holy Spirit more than that of a random person on the internet and their diet plan.
The war we fight with our relationship with our bodies is a tough one. It’s common to most women. But God understands. He wants to help us embrace the way He created us. When we do, He will guide us along our unique path and keep our feet from stumbling.
Action Step: It’s easy to get distracted. The world makes empty promises, but the Lord is a Promise Keeper. He is ready to lead us if we’ll reach out to Him. Will you take His hand and allow Him to lead you? You’ll be safe when you choose to stay on the path He’s paved specifically for you.
