Solid Foundation ~ Sunday Devotion

Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.” 2 Timothy 2:19 (NIV)

How’s your foundation? If you’ve been around here any time at all, I’m sure you’ve noticed the recurring theme of our foundation. In fact, the purpose I write devotions and lead a monthly support and accountability community is to help you build your healthy life on a foundation of faith. Is your fitness built on that foundation?

A solid foundation is necessary if you want to withstand the storms of life. Life can become chaotic. We live in an ever-changing world, a world that we can get caught up in if we don’t have our feet planted firmly on a solid foundation. We can easily fall prey to the messages that bombard us about our bodies and the need to pursue weight loss at all costs. This is why it is essential to have a solid foundation to help you stand confidently in how God made you and how you care for your body.

The Lord is our solid foundation and on that are two inscriptions:

  1. The Lord knows those who are his. – The Lord sees you, and He knows you. He looks at you with love in His eyes and is pleased with how He created you.
  2. Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness. – Not only are we to declare our faith, but we also must turn away from sin and live changed lives. This means turning from the world’s ways of doing things, including our approach to health and fitness. We must turn to Him and allow Him to guide our healthy living journey.
Build your fitness on a solid of foundation of faith to withstand the false messages the world will try to distract you with. Share on X

The only thing that is sure and unchanging is God’s Word and His love for you. Are you anchored to that? You’re going to face challenges and temptations. The world will try to sway you toward its way of thinking and doing things, especially in regards to your body. Don’t let it distract you. Allow the Lord to transform your heart and your mind so that you can stand confidently as the one He lovingly created.

Action Step: Are you standing confidently on the solid foundation of the One who sees you and knows you? Today is a good day to take your stand and let the Lord give you strength to live the life He’s called you to live.

Happy Sunday!
