Don’t Settle ~ Sunday Devotion
Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Isaiah 55:1 (NLT)
Have you ever settled? I have. I imagine you have too. What makes us settle? I believe it’s wrapped up in insecurity and lack of or misplaced confidence.
Although my first husband was a good man, he wasn’t the right man for me. We weren’t right for each other. But years of insecurity had me believing that I had to take this opportunity because it was probably the only one I’d get. I settled.
I thought I’d battle my weight for the rest of my life. I settled into thinking that I’d never feel good in my body and fully embrace the woman God created me to be. I settled for worrying about my weight for years.
Oftentimes, we settle because our confidence is misplaced. When I put my confidence in myself and my abilities, I’m limited. When I put my confidence in someone else, I’m sure to be let down. But when I put my confidence in Christ, I’m empowered. Why? Because He has everything I need.
Don't settle. God paid the price for you. Stop searching. He has everything you need. Will you receive it? Click To Tweet
This verse invites us to come to Him and receive His best. He’s already paid the price, but we must accept His invitation. When we do, we’ll be amazed at what He makes available to us and what He has planned for us.
Have you settled in an area, or multiple areas, of your life? Have you found yourself asking if this is as good as it’ll get?
Friend, you haven’t tasted anything until you’ve tasted the goodness of God for your life. Take the invitation. He has great things available for you.
Action Step: Where have you settled? It’s time to give that to the Lord and receive His best in its place. Take that step of faith today.
Happy Sunday!
