Looking to Scripture to Lead us into a New Year
First published January 4, 2016
“Lord, according to your Word, if I wholeheartedly commit whatever I do to you, my plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3) Lord, I acknowledge that the heart of committing any plan to You is seeking Your plan. Show me the right path, Father!” (from Beth Moore’s Praying God’s Word)

I pray this prayer often. And now, at the beginning of the year, is an even better time to pray and give this year to the Lord. Following are more scriptures I’m reflecting on as I embark on 2016. I’m taking a step in faith with my business and have an ongoing prayer that my life and my body glorify Him in all ways. Maybe one of the scriptures will speak to you. If it does, I encourage you to grab a note card and write it out and post it somewhere that you’ll see it daily.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore, I will wait for Him.” Lamentations 3:22-24 Today can be a new day!
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 His plans for you are good!
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19
It's time to consider our focus for the coming year. I always start with scripture. #newyear Click To Tweet
“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.” Psalm 40:3
“…be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Ephesians 4:23-24 It’s time for a new attitude!
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 If you’ve never said yes to Christ, now is the time. He can make you new! Even if you have said yes but haven’t given Him every part of you, if you’re still holding onto an area of your life, give it to Him now.
May all things be new for you this year!

Hebrews 12:1 ” Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,”
That has been my verse for this year. I love it. To me it tells me to focus on the race FOR ME! Not on what everyone else is doing but that there is a plan and a path uniquely mine. thanks for sharing! Best wishes for 2017!
