Rhythms and Rest ~ Sunday Devotion

Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Leviticus 25:18 (NIV)

The book of Leviticus is essentially a book of laws. In chapter 25, we read about the Sabbath Year and the Year of Jubilee.

God had a plan. He always has a plan. There’s a method to His madness. (Well, you know what I mean.)

We see from the beginning during creation when God worked then rested. This chapter shows us something similar. Work then rest.

God established rhythms and rest during creation, and He designed the same for His people.

We would do well to apply this to our own lives.

Leviticus 25 is all about rhythms and rest. God has a plan. There are times and seasons for everything. It's best to follow His plan. Click To Tweet

I’m the queen of routine. But that doesn’t mean I need to be “doing” all the time. Part of my routine, of the rhythms that I create, needs to include rest. Routine doesn’t mean that every day, nor every season in life, needs to look the same. There are moments, days, times, even seasons, to rest. It is equally as essential as doing.

When we obey God, we can rest assured that He’ll provide. When we honor God’s rhythms and rest in our lives, we’ll enjoy the best He has for us.

Action Step: Are you allowing God to guide the rhythms and rest in your life? Have you pushed through a time of rest? Perhaps today you can pause and rest safely in God’s arms.

Happy Sunday!
