Reminders ~ Sunday Devotion

So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. 2 Peter 1:12 (NIV)

This verse makes me think of the women in my Faith and Fitness Support and Accountability Community. Some of them are founding members who have been in this special community for five years. They have built their fitness on a firm foundation of faith. They know who they are in Christ, but they still benefit from the reminders of how to integrate their faith and fitness

In this chapter, Peter offers reminders about how to live a godly life that will lead to everlasting life in the kingdom of God.

It’s easy to take our eyes off the eternal prize and focus on the here and now. That’s why it’s important to have reminders of who we are and our purpose in life. Too many women (I was one of them!) believe that their life’s purpose is weight loss. We’re constantly bombarded with ways to lose weight and look “better.” We’re led to believe that is the prize.

We can all benefit from reminders to diligently live a Christian life. Our main focus must be the ultimate goal of eternal life with Christ. Share on X

Earlier this week, I shared with my email list how I had allowed posts on social media to shift my focus off of Jesus and onto superficial things. Self-doubt started to creep in. However, those doubts didn’t distract me very long because I had reminders from God’s Word during my morning quiet time and showing up throughout the day on my phone.

We can all benefit from reminders to diligently live a Christian life. And if we want to live it well and have the energy and ability to do what God has called us to do, it’s important for us to tend to our health. However, a focus on our physical health and body shape must not trump the care for our spiritual health. This is why women gather in community to integrate their faith and fitness and to have regular reminders of how to do this in a way that honors God and the unique body He has entrusted to each one of us.

Action Step: You may have a solid Christian faith, but are you building every part of your life on that faith? If not, allow this message to be a reminder that your prize is eternity. If something is distracting you from the ultimate goal, take today to focus on the truth you know.

Happy Sunday!

My Pray More Challenge is June 17-21, 2024. This will be a good way to get your focus back on Jesus.
