What Do You Put Your Confidence In? ~ Sunday Devotion
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes. Psalm 118:8-9 (NKJV)
What, or even who, do you put your confidence in? In yourself? Your abilities? A significant other? Your boss? The pastor?
Confidence. We often misplace it. We put it in things like our abilities, accomplishments, bank accounts, and even in our looks. Sometimes we put confidence in another person.
For many years, I lacked confidence. I couldn’t find anything about myself to put it in. I had the Lord in my life, but I wasn’t thinking in terms of putting my confidence in Him. I thought confidence came from looking a certain way or gaining another’s approval. But then I realized that I can only be confident when I trust in the Lord – when I trust Him with all areas of my life and trust what He says about me.
People will let us down, and your looks will change. The numbers in our bank account will fluctuate. Our race paces will slow. That’s why it’s important to put confidence in something, in someone, that will not change, and the only unchanging thing is the Lord and our relationship with Him. Once we put our confidence and trust in the Lord, we are able to see ourselves the way that He does, and we live differently. We show up confidently because we believe we are loved. We show up confidently because we believe we are made in His image. When we put our confidence in the Lord, we become confident women.
What do you put confidence in? Things about you and people around you will change, but the Lord never will. Put your confidence in Him. Click To Tweet
Where is your trust? That’s where you’ll find your confidence. I hope that you will put your trust in the Lord. It’ll make all the difference in how you live your day-to-day life.
Action Step: Ask yourself if you’re showing up confidently as the woman God created you to be. If not, put your trust in Him and live confidently in the truth that you have been fearfully and wonderfully made.
Happy Sunday!
