Open My Eyes ~ Sunday Devotion

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down. The Lord loves the godly. Psalm 146:8 (NLT)

For years, I was blind to what the Lord had to say about me. I read His Word, but I didn’t see how it applied to me personally. I accepted His forgiveness of my sins, but I didn’t accept that I was fearfully and wonderfully made. I was weighed down by insecurity, uncomfortable in my body, and unsure of who I was. But still the Lord loved me, and He wanted to open my eyes to the truth about who He created me to be.

It didn’t happen overnight. As I continued to pray, He began to lift the burden of insecurity. He opened my eyes to freedom. He showed me how to embrace my age and stage of life and to live fit and free in Him.

Will you let the Lord lift your burdens so you can see yourself the way He does? Share on X

Here’s what He taught me—and what He can teach you too:

  • I had to release the past and receive the present—where I was right then.
  • I had to care for the body God entrusted to me. Not someone else’s body. Not a different version of my body. This one.
  • I had to nourish my spirit as much as my body because true freedom comes from fully integrating faith and fitness.
  • I had to step into my calling—and it was never about weight loss. God has so much more for each of us.

The Lord loves you so much. He wants to lift your burdens and open your eyes to truth—the truth of who you are and whose you are. Walk in that freedom today.

Action Step: Take your insecurities, worries, or burdens to the Lord in prayer. Ask Him to open your eyes to His love and show you one step you can take this week to care for the unique body He has entrusted to you.

Happy Sunday!
