A Glimpse Into My Planner – What Happened in October
I got a new planner this year and so I started a series that I titled “A Glimpse Into My Planner”.
Each month* I’ve been giving you a glimpse of what’s been happening, because I now keep EVERYTHING in this planner since there is a space for EVERYTHING.
Just to recap:
Each day not only has lines for my to do list, it also has 3 sections that I love:
- The Big 3 – This helps me prioritize. What 3 things MUST I get done today?
- Wellness – Daily workouts.
- Gratitude – 3 things for which I’m grateful on that given day.
I also make note of things the Lord shows me during my daily quiet time.
This new planner has reduced my desk by 3 books, and I have it all in one place and I love it. I also love going back through my month to see what worked, what didn’t, what I got done, what I still need to do and so on.
October was intense!
I thought October might slow down a bit, but instead it was packed. I experienced a great deal of stress and overwhelm the first part of the month due to some technical issues with getting my book published and doing a couple of updates on 40 Days of Faith and Fitness.
Thankfully, all of my books (there are three!) are on Amazon in paperback and Kindle and are available in stores in Shelbyville, Indiana.
Local book debut. I had the opportunity to debut this new book at a local vendor showcase at the end of the month. Turn Your Holidays into Holy-Days: 31 Day Guide to a Happy Healthy December is part healthy living guide and part devotional. The first twelve days offer healthy living tips for your mind and body. The next twelve days are daily devotionals that will turn your heart toward the reason we celebrate. The final days will help you get focused for the new year.
Wrote for an online magazine. Faith & Fitness Magazine asked me to write an article about women’s devotionals. In it, I had the opportunity to share my devotional 40 Days of Faith and Fitness.
Podcast Interview. I had a fabulous time talking to Emily on the Beauty in Christ podcast. We talked all things body image and finding freedom with food.

Wellness
Move Challenge. I love to host free challenges for my followers. We had four days when we moved more. All who checked in had a chance to win a copy of Couch to Active.
Races. I raced two 5Ks in October. I placed in my age group in one of those and bettered my time in the second one.
New running routes. October is the month when our local running club changes running routes. I’m the one with the responsibility to create and mark the new routes for Shelby Roadrunners. This is always fun to come up with a new route. They seem to be working out well.
More running. Cooler weather had me choosing more running than biking. Thankfully my body is okay with the extra miles on my feet. Still every year it’s my goal to get out on the bike for at least one outside ride. You can be sure, my bike doesn’t ever get put away for the winter.
New game. Playing Pokemon Go is motivating me to take some extra walks or add on a little mileage to my runs. Plus it’s a fun topic to discuss, and I shared some life lessons I’m learning from this ‘so yesterday’ game.
Heated yoga. I attended a heated yoga class while my local yoga class was on fall break. While it wasn’t my first experience with hot yoga, it was my first time at this particular studio. I definitely plan to go back.

Faith
I started Beth Moore’s Bible study Entrusted. But after the first week, I took a break from that to follow along with the current Love God Greatly Bible study, Promises of God. I felt like this was what I needed right now, and it hasn’t disappointed. Although simple and short daily readings, God has shown up big each day. The study started with Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”. And then there was this statement in one of the blog posts: “If God has appointed you to move forward, He will provide whatever you need to accomplish your God-sized assignment.”
These were the words I needed this month. It was full. It stretched me. But God provided everything I needed.
October stretched me and in the process blessed me. #October2018 #bookrelease #gratitude Click To Tweet
