No Judgment ~ Sunday Devotional
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5 (NIV)
Nobody wants to admit their need for help.
As a counselor, I’ve spent many hours with people. A common theme is that we humans dislike asking for help. When we ask for help, we see that as a sign of weakness. We want to be all-sufficient and all-knowing. But we weren’t designed to do it on our own.
God created Adam and then saw that it wasn’t good for him to be alone and so He created Eve.
Even God is not alone. He has Jesus and the Holy Spirit to complete the Trinity.
When we need something, we have to ask for it.
Because a baby can’t speak, he often cries when he needs to be fed.
As parents, we don’t withhold this from our child nor do we judge him for needing to be fed.
God our Father is the same with us.
When we need His help (which we can’t really do life without Him!), He wants us to ask. He doesn’t judge us for asking.
The verse above tells us that He “gives generously to all without finding fault.”
This means that no matter who you are, He wants to give to you and will not judge you for asking.
We all need and want direction for our lives.
Daily we’re faced with decisions, and we can’t make them on our own. God doesn’t view us as weak or less than because we ask. He doesn’t judge us for needing help. In fact, He is ready and willing to come to our aid.
But we do have to ask.
We may be able to anticipate when our baby will need to eat again, but we often wait until they realize themselves that it’s time to eat.
God is the same way. Of course He knows what we need, but He wants us to come to Him and ask. He’ll not turn us away.
Have you been reluctant to approach the throne of God because of fear of His judgment?
Please know that He is waiting with open arms ready to generously give what you have need of. God loves you so much and wants to care for you exactly how you need it today.
Happy Sunday!
