A Glimpse Into My Planner – What Happened in June
I got a new planner this year and so I started a series that I’m titling “A Glimpse Into My Planner”.
Each month* I’m giving you a glimpse of what’s been happening, because I now keep EVERYTHING in this planner since there is a space for EVERYTHING.
Just to recap:
Each day not only has lines for my to do list, it also has 3 sections that I love:
- The Big 3 – This helps me prioritize. What 3 things MUST I get done today?
- Wellness – Daily workouts.
- Gratitude – 3 things for which I’m grateful on that given day.
I also make note of things the Lord shows me during my daily quiet time.
This new planner has reduced my desk by 3 books, and I have it all in one place and I love it. I also love going back through my month to see what worked, what didn’t, what I got done, what I still need to do and so on.
Let’s look back at June which also means we’re wrapping up the first half of the year! (By the way, how is that even possible?)
Business highlights
Summer book club in my free Facebook group
To be honest, I did not plan this way in advance. For me, Made to Crave (amazon affiliate link) is a book I use daily since I first read it nearly 6 years ago. I use content from it in my coaching, but some themes continued to come up in my Facebook group and on my page that I felt like we could address best by reading the book together.
Before I created a plan, I asked in the Facebook group if anyone was interested and so many people said YES! So I created a reading schedule and the book club is going well. I love to share this resource with women and love even more to discuss it with them. We even had a local meet up in Shelbyville. Some of my favorite times are just sitting around a table with women talking about faith and fitness.

Personal highlight
Watching Ethan serve at a special mass when the archbishop visited to help celebrate 150 years of a our local parish. I fought back tears the entire service. In fact, the moment I stepped into the church that day, I was overwhelmed with the presence of God. I couldn’t explain it. (I think my husband thought I was a freak or something, but moms, you just know when you’re child is having a moment that will shape the rest of his life.) That day was special.
Quiet Time Notes
I finished up the Why Her? study of Rachael and Leah by Nicki Koziarz in June (amazon affiliate link). Below are a couple of quotes that spoke to me.
Loving yourself in a way that honors God is one of the greatest steps we can take to overcome the manipulative tendencies that insecurity stirs up in us.
It’s this fine line of learning to celebrate the success of others while staying in your lane. It’s also learning from others while not letting comparison compromise what God is doing in your life.
The more you stop staring at the success of others and focus in on what God is stirring in you, contentment will come.
Workouts
It’s been HOT in Indiana. We had several 90+ degree days in June and high humidity. I’m back to running (praise the Lord!) but I still did more biking (274 miles) due to the heat and taking it easy on my feet (67 miles). I continue to do yoga daily. Some days it’s a quick ten minute flow, and a couple of times a week I attend a sixty minute vinyasa class. I found a new 10 minute Flat Belly sequence that I do weekly. A strong core is important for running. This sequence is also good for the digestive system.
Gratitude (some random things from my daily 3)
- Pretzels
- Time with friend by her pool
- Ethan drove for the first time
- Iced coffee
- Farmers Market
- Andrew Luck threw a football (finally!)
- AC serviced
- Twizzlers
- BAMR Bands
- Ethan won mental attitude award for golf
- Wine tasting
- Kroger Clicklist
- Ethan attending Bishop Brute Seminary camp

What is in store for next month and the second half of 2018?
In July I’ll be running my first race since spring. It’s a local 3.5 mile run that is held every year on July 4. Not sure how fast it’ll be, but I plan to run with gratitude.
I’m working on a Christmas devotional that I want to have ready for fall. At first I thought I might do a Christmas in July release but I don’t think that’ll be happening. I don’t want to rush it. I’m talking to my book writing mentor to get a few questions answered and to set a timeline and launch date. Stay tuned!
I will be working on a 4 week coaching program that will be in August. If you’ve struggled this summer and need some support and accountability to get focus back into your healthy living, then stay tuned!
And we’ll be on vacation for a week. We’re going west to stay at Yellowstone National Park for a few days. This will be a new experience, and we’re looking forward to it.
Cheers to the second half of 2018!
