Jesus Grew. You Can, Too ~ Sunday Devotion
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52 (NIV)
If Jesus grew, then we can grow, too. And even more than that, we can give ourselves grace for not knowing it all right now. We haven’t yet arrived, and we won’t until we get to Heaven. In the meantime, we remain present and allow the Lord to shape us along the way.
There’s a phrase that says, “Grow through what you go through.”
Jesus embraced each age and stage of life. Although sinless, He grew. May we follow His example to grow through what we go through. Share on XWe can grow through stages of life. We can grow through our circumstances. Jesus didn’t skip stages, and we’re not expected to either. Sure, He grew without sinning while I feel like I’m always failing before I figure it out, while I figure it out, even after I figure it out. Failing forward, maybe? But He gives me grace, so I can give myself grace, too. (As long as I learn along the way!)
Many days I feel like Paul when he wrote in Romans that he doesn’t do the good he wants to do but does what he hates. He was frustrated with himself. I get frustrated with myself. I imagine you get frustrated with yourself, too. But we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus grew. He embraced each age and stage of life and sinlessly navigated His way through them with the help of the Father.
Action Step: Be where you are. Embrace your stage of life. Allow the Lord to teach you and help you grow as you continue your journey forward.
