Insight for Living ~ Sunday Devotional
“The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.” Psalm 19:8 (NLT)
I spent so many years wondering what God wanted me to do. I wanted to know His will for my life…where to go to college, what I was to do as far as a career, who I was to marry, how to lose weight and feel good in my skin.
I was constantly asking Him to show me His will. I wanted clear answers. I didn’t want to miss anything, and I wanted to be sure to get it right.
But if I’m honest with myself, I think I complicated things.
God never intended the revelation of His will and His guidance in our lives to be complicated. Certainly being obedient isn’t always easy, but knowing His will isn’t the difficult part.
He has given us His Word. In it, we find His commandments as well as encouragement to obey.
His Word is a guide to how to live and is full of promise that He is with us and will help us through it all.
When we study the Bible, we gain insight for how to live this life He has designed for us…from the big decisions we face to the day-to-day, like what we’ll eat and drink.
This verse in Psalm reminds us that God’s way is right. And when we follow it, it will bring us joy. His Word is clear. It’s never been His intention to make life a mystery that we can’t solve.
He wants us to live for Him, and He’s given us His Word to tell us how to do it.
If you’re struggling or find yourself asking questions and not getting answers, spend some time with the Lord and open His Word. Let Him make things clear. He wants to reveal Himself and His plan to you.
