In This Together ~ Sunday Devotional

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 (NIV)

How timely, for me anyway.

I schedule verses weeks, and sometimes months, in advance. Little did I know when I wrote down Galatians 6:2 for August 15 that this would be the day we moved Ethan into college. Although I prefer to let the tears flow when I’m alone, I’m thankful for friends who have given me encouragement over the last few months during this happy, yet difficult, time of transition.

God created us for community. He doesn’t want us to carry our burdens alone.

I’m navigating uncharted waters, but I don’t have to do that alone. God has blessed me with friends, fellow moms, who have gone through these waters and have survived. They know what I’m going through and have offered prayers and words of encouragement.

Sometimes the hardest part is getting vulnerable and letting someone help carry our burden.

The third verse of this chapter says, “If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves.” Oftentimes we like to think we can handle things on our own. We are above asking for help. But that’s not how God wants us to deal with tough times. He wants us to help one another, and He wants us to allow others to help us.

When you’re weighed down with a difficult time, I can help ease your burden. When I’m struggling, you can help ease mine. That’s how the body of Christ works.

I don’t know what you’re carrying today, but you don’t have to carry it alone. Let those around you support you.

If you see a brother or sister struggling, reach out. Offer to walk alongside him or her and help carry that burden.

If you’re the one struggling, let a sister put an arm around your shoulder and carry the load with you.

We’re in this together.

Happy Sunday!
