I Know This About Me ~ Sunday Devotion

Jesus told them, “These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me. John 8:14 (NLT)

Jesus knew who He was. He didn’t need anyone to tell Him or validate Him. He knew His worth. Do you know your worth?

You came from the same place Jesus did. He created you and loves you so very much. Do you know that? Have you received that love?

He wants nothing more than for you and me to live with the confidence of knowing who we are no matter what anyone else says.

Jesus knew who He was. You were created in His image. You have value and worth too. Do you know that? Share on X

I’m a mom. I’m a wife. I’m a counselor. I’m also direct and impatient. I toss out cuss words every now and then. I could list many things that I know about myself, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I know these things. But I also know that I am a child of God.

It took a long time for me to get rooted and grounded in this knowledge. Yes, I believed in Jesus at an early age, but I didn’t believe all the things He said about me. Instead, I listened to the negative things others said as well as the negative thoughts that Satan planted in my mind. I got distracted by comparisons and unattainable versions of myself. But today, I can confidently say that I am a loved child of God. I am the daughter of a King. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I know this about me. Does Satan try to make me doubt these things? For sure! I have to stay intentional with my time in prayer and in the Word, so that I can confidently say, “I know who I am in Christ.”

These things I know about myself – that I am a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made – are true for you too. Do you know that? Will you believe it? Once you do, it will change everything.

Jesus knew who He was. He knew where He came from and where He was going. He also knows you, and He sees you. You were created in His image. His opinion about you is the only one that matters. Will you focus on that today?

Action Step: Whose opinion are you listening to? It’s time to start listening to what Jesus says about you. Once you do, you can embrace your age and stage of life and enjoy all that God has planned for you right now.

Happy Sunday!
