A Heart at Peace ~ Sunday Devotional
“All God’s girls have issues.”
This is a quote from Lysa TerKeurst in her book Made to Crave. (Amazon affiliate link) This statement has stuck with me since I first read the book over eight years ago.
We don’t always know what is going on in a person’s heart or behind closed doors and off the grid of social media.
Even the person who looks all put together on the outside – family, career, body, you name it – has issues. There’s a struggle, a fear, a regret, an insecurity, something that she’s dealing with.
When you compare your life with another’s based on what you see, you need to know that you aren’t seeing the whole picture.
When we desire to be more like, or have x, y, or z like, another person, we don’t know what else is going on. We don’t know what we’re really asking for!
In these cases, we don’t know what else will be included with those things we’re desiring.
There is good and bad in every situation, wins and struggles. There are ups and downs and highs and lows.
When we desire someone else’s life, we have to remember that the good we see also has some not-so-good included.
God has entrusted each of us with this life, this body, this reality.
Entrusted it to us. This is the life He knows is right for each of us.
“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)
I don’t know about you, but I think I’ll choose peace and the life God knows I can handle.
How about you?
Happy Sunday!
