He Cares for You ~ Sunday Devotion

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV)

I have a note in my Bible beside this verse that reads, “Worry = a poor attempt to control your life.” When you and I insist on carrying our own burdens, we’re basically saying we don’t trust God to handle them. There’s something in us that thinks we don’t matter enough to Him and that our concerns don’t concern Him. But we couldn’t be more wrong. He wants you to cast your worries on Him because He cares for you. What matters to you matters to Him. You matter to Him.

I spent years worrying about my weight. It was a worry I needed to cast on the Lord. In fact, I did. But then I picked it up again. Have you found yourself doing that? Casting a care on the Lord because you know He cares for you, only to get nervous that He might not care enough? Or, He might not handle it the way you want it handled?

God is waiting for you to cast your cares on Him. He can handle anything that you throw at Him. Your worries are safe in His mighty hand. Share on X

I gave it to the Lord, but quickly started handling it myself again. I failed to humble myself. I felt like I needed to be in control because trusting Him with it required my vulnerability. And I didn’t like being vulnerable. Eventually, and thankfully, I realized that my worries were best left in His mighty hand. After that, I began to see all the ways He cares for me.

He cares for you via friends and community support. He cares for you by sending help through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He shows His care in so many ways. Do you see it? He sees you. He’s waiting for you to cast all of your cares, worries, and anxieties on Him. He can handle anything that you throw at Him. He wants to handle it. But it requires our humility and vulnerability. We must ask for help and admit that we can’t do it alone. We must go to Him and surrender it all. Will you do that?

Action Step: What’s always on your mind? What keeps you up at night? The Lord cares for you. He wants you to have peace of mind and restful sleep, but that is going to require you to cast your cares on Him. Friend, He cares so deeply for you, yes you.

Happy Sunday!
