God Appointed Your Here and Now ~ Sunday Devotional
“From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.” Acts 17:26-27 (NIV)
You are you because that’s how God made you.
You live where you live because that’s where God placed you.
You inhabit this earth right now because that’s when God wanted you here.
God had a plan when He created you.
God appointed your here and now.
God is sovereign. He could’ve placed you anywhere anytime but He chose to have you living right here right now.
Why?
He wants you to know Him. And He wants others to know Him because of the work He does in you and through you.
It’s graduation season for high school and college students.
God has a plan for each of them.
As a mother of one of those students, I have to trust God’s sovereignty that my son is right where he’s supposed to be (even though I want to bundle him up and hold him close like I did 18 years ago).
At some point we all ask “what am I doing here?” Perhaps it’s a specific location, a job, a relationship, a situation, or a particular phase of life.
The simple answer is because it’s right when and where God wants you.
But then let’s ask, “How can I help others know Him by the way I live in this place at this moment?”
God has you here for a reason. Never doubt that.
