A Glimpse into my Planner – What Happened in January

I got a new planner this year.  And I’m loving it!

It’s a Kitlife planner, and I won it as part of Nicole Culver’s planning party.  I had looked at these planners before but never purchased so I was super excited to win!

In my days as a home-based counselor, I carried my Franklin Covey everywhere.  I’m a pen and paper kind of gal.  I have a wall calendar for our family and I keep lists of what I have to do.  I use my calendar on my iphone but only as a bonus calendar.

So, I thought I’d do a series this year where I give you a glimpse into my planner each month, because it’s more than appointments and to do lists!

First I have to tell you the great things about the Kitlife planner (and before you think I’m getting paid to write this, please don’t.  There are no affiliate links in this post and winning the planner had no conditions about sharing it.  Now that we have that cleared up! 😉 )

Back to a glimpse into my planner.

Each day not only has lines for my to do list, it also has 3 sections that I love:

  • The Big 3 – This helps me prioritize.  What 3 things MUST I get done today?
  • Wellness – This has become my workout journal replacing another book I used to use.
  • Gratitude – I continue my practice of writing down 3 things each day for which I’m grateful daily. This section replaces my gratitude journal.

So my new Kitlife Planner has put everything all in one place reducing the number of books I use and increasing the space on my desk.

One of the commitments I made this year was to write down things the Lord is showing me during quiet time.  I decided to take notes of the things He is showing me so I can reflect on them throughout the day or go back to it over the course of the week.  There’s plenty of space to write those notes in my planner so I can see them all day as well.

Given that background, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the things that have made it into my planner throughout the month…..projects, workouts, what the Lord is teaching me, and some things for which I’m grateful.

Don’t worry, I’ll just give you a glimpse into my planner, not all the details!

Let’s get started!

As I flip back through January, one thing that jumps out is a daily note to blog 30 minutes.  This is another new thing for this year.

Of course I’m a blogger.  I mean, you’re here reading my blog, right?  But my friend (and SEO Queen!) Glenneth started an accountability group for bloggers who wanted to commit to 30 minutes of blog work daily.  It has been so helpful.  I’ve been much more productive with my writing and maintaining my blog with this support and accountability.

One of my main projects this month has been creating a Faith and Fitness Guide.  Essentially this is a group study that could be used for Lent, or any time really, but Lent is just around the corner.  It contains 6 weeks of content that includes memory verses, devotional content, and discussion questions.  While you can use it on your own, I would suggest you get a friend or small group to go through it together.  It would be the perfect companion to my devotional “40 Days of Faith and Fitness” or it can stand alone.

I’m pleased to say that you can download the entire guide for free or you can get it on Kindle with bonus content for just 99 cents or (soon) in paperback for 4.99.

January was a productive month for me. I have a new freebie available and ran several miles. Take a glimpse into my planner for more behind the scenes. #faithandfitness Click To Tweet

Many of my workouts this month have been in my basement on the trainer because it has been very cold here in Shelbyville!  We’ve also had some snow and ice to deal with.  However, I got in plenty of running and finished the month with 89 miles.

Some of the things that showed up on my gratitude list were in reference to Ethan’s trip to Texas, a warm home, hot coffee, and productive work time.

I’ve been following Love God Greatly Bible study of James this month.  Much of my quiet time has been working through that as well as my word and verse for the year which is Clarity and Psalm 143:8.

I’m looking forward to a Cabo in February.  And I’m also looking forward to Lent and leading some discussion right inside the Faith and Fitness Sisterhood, my free Facebook Group.  The doors are always open.  Join us there!

I’ll be back at the end of next month for another glimpse into my planner.  But until then Cheers to 2018 and stay tuned for a post coming with Bible verses to help motivate your daily fitness.
