Fourth Quarter 2023 Review

We’ve come to the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. I’ve been doing these recaps for several years by giving you a glimpse into my Kitlife Planner. That’s the place where I keep track of everything. In fact, it even has a quarterly check-in spot.

The main parts of my Kitlife Daily are…

  • The Big 3 – This helps me prioritize. What three things must I get done today?
  • Self-Care – This is a daily practice. Self-care is so much more than a spa day. It’s little things done daily that fill my cup. 
  • Gratitude – I write down three things each day that I’m grateful for. Some days they are big things but many days they’re the simple things.  
  • Activity – Place to track regular exercise. 
  • Meal Plan – Sometimes this serves as an area for me to note what I eat throughout the day, other times it’s what I plan for dinner. 

There’s also plenty of space for notes or journaling. I often jot down my social media posting schedule here as well as notes from my Bible study or a quote I want to remember.

So how did October, November, and December go?

The Highlights

Writing a Faith and Fitness Bible Study – I’m about ready to offer this new Bible study. 

Planksgiving – Once again, dozens of women strengthened their gratitude muscles in November.

Word of the Year for 2024 – Abundance. This will play out in many ways in the coming year. 

Transformation Challenge – This new challenge was a success. Many women started changing their narratives about what it takes to make a transformation

YouTube series – I did a daily series based on Turn Your Holidays into Holy-Days: 31-Day Guide to a Happy, Healthy December

  • Afternoon timeout
  • Clean and organize the house
  • Skip a bike ride when my body felt tired
  • Morning coffee and chocolate
  • Visit to the chiropractor
  • Grocery delivery
  • Nap
  • Dinner out
  • Stroll and shopping
  • An hour in the Adoration Chapel
  • Latte

Yoga every day is a given. My body loves waking up that way.

Bike rides decreased due to weather. October was a pretty good month for riding, and I went out a few times in November. Even though there were a few days in December warm enough to ride, it just didn’t happen. 

Running most days. I ran two 5Ks in December and was happy with those results. 

Strength training is critical for longevity and injury prevention. I’m doing 4 short workouts a week right now. 

How I used meal plan section

I randomly use this section to jot down what I eat to practice awareness. It helps me pause and make mindful choices. No calorie counting. No diet plan. Simply awareness. As the holidays came around and things got busier, it was a good way to plan out dinner meals.

In November, my Faith and Fitness Support and Accountability Community did a Gratitude study together using the YouVersion App called “Thirty Days of Thanksgiving and Worship.”

In December, we did my book Turn Your Holidays into Holy-Days: 31-Day Guide to a Happy, Healthy December.

What’s next?

Faith and Fitness Bible Study – This will be ready for Lent 2024. I’m still working on how I will offer it. Most likely it will be in my Support and Accountability Community

YouTube – I plan to continue to utilize YouTube to share devotions and faith-focused fitness inspiration.

New planner – Kitlife planners no longer exist, so I had to find a new planner for 2024. I’m using an Ashley Shelly planner. There will be an adjustment period. I hope to settle into it. 

Word of the Year – Abundance. Key verse: And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)

Weigh Your Words Challenge – This annual challenge will happen in January.
