Forgiveness ~ Sunday Devotional
Do you need to ask the Father for forgiveness?
I did. (I mean, I do every day, but this one was a big one.)
You see, when I was stuck in the depths of my struggles with weight loss worries and body image, I was a Christ follower. I’ve followed Jesus for as long as I can remember. I was a young girl when I asked Jesus into my heart.
But there was this area of how I viewed myself and the amount of focus I put on trying to change how God made me.
I spent a lot of years doing that…wandering in the desert. Just like the Israelites.
They were God’s people.
I was God’s girl. But I wasn’t surrendered in every area of my life.
“You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins.” Psalm 85:2 (NIV)
Psalm 85 is about restoration.
God forgave His people.
I had to come to a point in my life when I admitted that my unhealthy focus on trying to obtain a healthy body was simply sin.
Anything that takes our focus away from Jesus is sin.
God is always available to His people and ready to forgive.
Have you put too much of your focus on yourself? Have you distanced yourself from God in some area of your life?
Today is the perfect day to ask forgiveness and surrender it to Him.
Let Him set you free.
Happy Sunday!
