First Quarter 2026 Recap ~ A Glimpse Into My Planner
We’ve come to the end of the first quarter of 2026. Writing that feels like the first quarter has flown by but also like it’s been 2026 forever. I’ve been doing quarterly recaps for several years by giving you a glimpse into my planner. That’s the place where I keep track of everything. This is my second year designing my own daily planner with the help of Plum Paper. This planner has a To Do List, Schedule, and Notes area. I also have space for daily gratitude, meals, and my workout.
So, let’s get on with a recap of January, February, and March.
The Highlights
My Word for 2026 is Simple. I’ve tried to keep that front and center any time I’m working on a plan for my business or anything else for that matter. The way it’s been playing out in my business so far is doing more email series rather than separate challenges. For instance, in previous years, I’ve done Weigh Your Words as a challenge in January. Participants had to sign up and get on a separate email list. This year, I ran the series in my weekly email that goes out on Tuesday with supportive social media posts throughout the week. At this point, I think this is how I will approach the year. I will regularly do an email series to my email list rather than a lot of separate challenges.
My verse for the year is 1 Corinthians 16:14: Do everything in love. That might not always be easy, but it’s the simple approach. Am I acting in love? The answer will likely be quite clear.
I’m working more intentionally on my next devotional. I had to take a pause last year because of our move, but I’m giving the new book more time and energy. I’m not quite there yet but hope to hand it over to my editor sometime next month.
House for sale – As you know, we moved during the final quarter of 2025. We finally listed our house in January. At the time of this writing, I believe we have a buyer. I hope that next quarter’s recap will include the fact that we sold that house.

Meals
I’ve been using this section to plan evening meals for the week. This helps me know what meat to get out of the freezer and into the refrigerator to be ready for evening mealtimes. As far as breakfast and lunch go, I keep those simple and similar from day to day so I don’t really need to write them down or think about them too much.
Workouts
Yoga every day. I do 10-30 minutes each day. It’s such a part of my routine that I don’t mention it often, but the benefits for my spirit, mind, and body are huge. If you haven’t tried yoga, I strongly encourage you to do so.
Strength train. I do 2 full body workouts each week. On 2 other days, I just focus on lower body. None of my workouts are very long. I use my weighted vest to add intensity to my workouts because I don’t have many heavy weights at home. I recently got a weighted jump rope that I’m anxious to try out.
Cardio. I recently realized I’ve been running daily for nearly one year straight. I just need to make it to mid-April to complete the year. While I don’t intend to make this a super long streak, I would like to make it to the one-year mark. My foot has been bothering me a little bit. I’m hoping new shoes will help that. We got some snow and ice in January and February, but my Yak Trax helped me get through it. I’m getting anxious to get out on my bike. We’ve had some warmer weather, but it involved lots of wind. Hopefully, I’ll soon have a warm day without the wind.
What’s next?
Make progress on my next devotional. Hopefully, I will have it published or a date for publishing by the end of next quarter.
Sell the house.
Plan a family vacation.
Introduce my F.I.T.T. Framework through an email series in April.
Do education around nutrition and drinking water in May and June.
Cheers to Quarter Two of 2026!
