God is Faithful ~ Sunday Devotion
Understand, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stiff-necked people. Deuteronomy 9:6 (NIV)
God is faithful even when we are not.
Why do we insist on doing it our own way? Too often, I dig in my heels and try to do things on my own. You too?
The story of the wandering Israelites is close to my heart. I lived a lot of life in the desert just like they did, wandering. Even during that time when I was doing fitness my way, God was still faithful. He showered me with undeserved blessings. He heard my cries for help, and He always answered. I simply chose to continue wandering anyway.
Throughout those years, I made weight loss an idol. I looked outward for validation. I followed anyone and anything that promised to help me lose weight and thus lead to a more fulfilling life. All the while, God had a good land for me. Peace and freedom were available to me as soon as I chose to stop wandering.God is faithful. He knows what we need and provides it. But we do have to slow down so that we’ll see it. Click To Tweet
Even though I did leave that desert years ago to surrender my fitness to Him, I still have struggles. I can be stubborn and sinful, and yet God chooses to bless me, to share special moments like the one on the beach recently. It was because of nothing I did, but because of who He is.
God is faithful, faithful to see us, hear us, and answer our cries for help. He is a good Father. He knows what we need and provides it. But we do have to slow down to see it and claim it as the good gift He is giving.
It’s time to recognize our waywardness and surrender to our good and loving God.
Action Step: The Lord has good things in store for you. In fact, they are right around the corner. Are you willing to slow down, surrender all to Him, and see His goodness?
