Every Word ~ Sunday Devotion
But they could think of nothing, because all the people hung on every word he said. Luke 19:48 (NLT)
Jesus was teaching in the temple, but the religious leaders of that day felt threatened by Him. They wanted to get rid of Him, but they couldn’t do anything because the people hung on every word. Jesus represented everything the people longed for. In His words, they found peace, hope, and love. He spoke of a transformation that they yearned for.
We have access to His Word today. His life-giving, life-changing words. The Bible holds that truth, His truth, but too often we become distracted by things of the world. We spend time scrolling and giving our attention to things that are not life-giving. Sure, those words are often sold as “life-changing,” but they don’t change us for the better. They don’t result in the lasting transformations that we truly need. Those changes, if they happen, are only temporary.
Where is your attention? Are you hanging onto every word of Christ? Your life will begin to change when you do. Share on X
Where is your attention right now? What words are you hanging onto? Whose words are you hanging onto? Only the words of Jesus, every word of His, can be trusted. It’s only His words that will guide us to face our challenges, give us wisdom for decision-making, and speak peace into our troubled hearts. Hang onto His words.
Action Step: What has been going through your mind recently? Are they God’s words? Uplifting words? Are they words that breathe life into your spirit? If not, set aside some time to open the Bible and begin to read. Find a verse that speaks to you. Repeat it. Hang onto every word throughout the day.
