Does Something Need to Change? ~ Sunday Devotional
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3 (NKJV)
If what you’re doing isn’t leading to peace and freedom, then something needs to change.
God’s commandments, just like your rules for your child, are to keep you safe. They are there because He loves you. His intention was not to burden us with demands and to make our lives harder. He’s given us commandments and His Word to show us how to live a good, godly, and holy life. Obeying Him and following His will for us leads to peace and freedom.
God created you. He entrusted a body, a life, and a specific calling to you. His Word is a guide to help us know how to follow Him and live the life He’s designed for us. There is peace and freedom when we live within that design.
Do you feel weighed down with weight loss worries? Are you exhausted from trying and failing at another new diet? Do you feel so overwhelmed with information that you don’t know where to start or what to do?
God has things to say about you and about how He created you and wants you to care for yourself. Your health and fitness is something He’s interested in. He wants to be part of that journey. If that’s an area of your life that is causing you pain and frustration, then it’s time to surrender that to Him.
His ways aren’t hard. When you approach your healthy lifestyle from a standpoint that you are loved by God and uniquely created, you’ll begin to see yourself the way that He sees you. He’ll help you understand how to honor your body in a healthy way, in a way that leads to peace and freedom – freedom to live the life He’s designed for you to live. He doesn’t want you distracted or consumed by body image and the pursuit of weight. I don’t know what God’s specific calling is on your life, but I am sure that it’s not to lose weight. He has so much more for you.
If you’re not at peace in every area of your life, including your health and fitness, it’s time to change your approach. Invite God to show you how He can guide you with His Word.
