It’s All Connected
Recently, one of the ladies in my Faith and Fitness Support and Accountability Community asked for prayer. She started it by saying, “I feel bad for continually asking for prayer.” I reminded her that there was a reason it was called a support and accountability community. Yes, we provide accountability for healthy living, but also it’s a place for support, to support the women in all areas of their lives.
Here’s the thing that too many women ignore, it’s the thing I ignored for a long time, too. We can’t compartmentalize our lives. Anything that happens, all of our circumstances, impacts everything else. My purpose in helping women is to show them how their faith impacts their fitness, and that to have a sustainable healthy life, you must integrate the two. Then, I show them how.
But also, our relationships impact our fitness. Our job impacts our relationships. It also impacts our fitness. The weather impacts our fitness. We have recently had a lot of snow and cold weather. People aren’t getting out as much. That also means you might be stuck inside with the same person longer than you’re used to. That will certainly impact that relationship. 😉
The point is everything impacts everything.
You can’t go through loss, whether it’s the loss of a friend, family member, or pet, and it not impact your health in some way. Your mental, physical, and/or spiritual health.
When you get a new job, it impacts everything. It changes your schedule. That means you have to change when you have your devotions, fix dinner, workout, etc. It impacts your mental, physical, and/or spiritual health.
It's all connected. Our lives don't happen in neat little compartments. Share on XChanges in relationships. Seasons of life. Seasons of the year. National news. Those things impact your thoughts, emotions, schedule, etc.
Are you seeing how we don’t live our lives in isolation? Life isn’t neat and tidy. It’s not predictable. This is why it’s important that you have an approach to your health and fitness that is sustainable and effortless. When our world gets thrown upside down, or we simply have a schedule glitch, we still need to take care of our physical bodies so that we can get through whatever it is we’re facing. This also prevents you from riding the diet roller coaster, going on and off plan based on what’s happening in your life.
When I started thinking about how everything in our lives is connected, a little tune popped into my head…
Thigh bone connected to the hip bone
Hip bone connected to the back bone
Back bone connected to the shoulder bone
Shoulder bone connected to the neck bone
Are you starting to hear that tune? The tune of “Dem Bones” or “Dry Bones”? I looked it up and learned some background to this folk song. It’s based on Ezekiel 37. He prophesied, and the Lord breathed life into dry bones. It was the Lord sending the message that He would put His Spirit into His people and give them life.
When we allow Him to infiltrate every area of our lives, to breathe into every area of our lives, we’ll be able to live the life He’s called us to live. We’ll be able to embrace our age and stage of life and focus on those things that He wants to do in us and through us. But first we must realize that it’s all connected.
If you are feeling disconnected and like your life is a bit out of sorts, let Him breathe life into you. And reach out. Reach out to me. Reach out to a sister in Christ. You don’t have to travel the journey alone. I have spots available in my support and accountability community if you want to learn how to integrate your faith and fitness. We’d love to travel this journey with you.
Now, enjoy that tune playing in your head today and allow it to remind you that it’s all connected. We’re all connected.
