"A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy "A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones." Proverbs 14:30 (NIV) "All God's girls have issues." This is a quote from Lysa TerKeurst in her book "Made to Crave." This statement has stuck with me since I first read the book over ten years ago. We don't always know what is going on in a person's heart or behind closed doors and off the grid of social media. Even the person who looks all put together on the outside - family, career, body, you name it - has issues. There's a struggle, a fear, a regret, an insecurity, something that she's dealing with, and you don't see it. When we compare our lives with others based on what we see, we aren't seeing the whole picture. When we desire to be more like, or have X, Y, or Z like, another person, we don't know what else is going on. There is good and bad in every situation. There are ups and downs and highs and lows. When we desire someone else's life, we have to remember that the good we see also includes some not-so-good. God has entrusted you with this life, this body, this reality. Entrusted it to you. This is the life He knows is right for you. I think I'll choose peace and the life God knows I can handle. How about you? Action Step: Look for someone to encourage this week. Send a note. {Sunday Devotion - Stay on the Path} “Stay on t {Sunday Devotion - Stay on the Path} “Stay on the path that the Lord your God has commanded you to follow. Then you will live long and prosperous lives in the land you are about to enter and occupy.” Deuteronomy 5:33 (NLT) How many times did I hand over my worries about my weight to the Lord only to pick them back up again? Have you done that? Desire to follow Him in every area of your life only to hesitate with one? I’d toss out the magazines, dispose of the supplements, remove the apps, hide the scale, all with the intention to trust the Lord to show me how to care for my body. I’d be okay for a while until someone posted a transformation picture or a new diet they were going on, then I’d get distracted. Maybe that was the answer I was looking for. Surely, it would work for me. I could not stay on the path the Lord was commanding me to go on…until I did. If I’d only known that following Him all along would lead to the best life. A peaceful and more confident life. Thankfully, I decided once and for all to obey His commands and let Him guide me. It’s easy to get distracted when you’re walking along the path of your faith and fitness journey. There are so many competing ideas out there for how you can reach your health and fitness goals. Too often those approaches are not sustainable. They are created to set you up for failure. Why? To keep you coming back. They’re generic and don’t know you and your unique body. God showed me, and He can show you too, how to honor my unique body. By integrating my faith and fitness, I learned a sustainable way to live. That has become my Faith and Fitness Framework™. It’s a faith-first approach that is helping many women stay on the path to lasting fitness for our age and stage of life. Stay on your path. Instead of chasing the latest quick fix, fix your eyes on Jesus. Honor your body so you can embrace your now and start living your best life. Only His path will lead to a long and happy life. A life that is fit and free! Action Step: Are you on the path God has commanded you to follow? If so, stay on the path. If you’ve taken a detour, go back to Him. He’ll guide you to where you need to go. Happy Sunday!
Did you know that tomorrow marks 100 days until th Did you know that tomorrow marks 100 days until the end of 2023? Recently, we discussed this on a coaching call in my support and accountability community. We talked about some things we could do daily for those 100 days. Plank was a popular suggestion. Other ideas were a breath of fresh air, stretching or a yoga pose, practice balance, gratitude journal. The key to making a commitment to do something for 100 days is the action must be simple. It can't, and shouldn't, take a bunch of time and energy. Yes, it will likely be a challenge on some level, but the biggest challenge will come with consistency. However, becoming consistent is exactly how lasting change happens. The change is not always physical but more mentally. Follow-through builds confidence. Doing something small consistently will prepare you for bigger challenges to come. What do you need? Imagine making a commitment to something tomorrow and still doing it on December 31. What would change? Have you found yourself already looking to January 1 and thinking about all the resolutions you'll make? This morning, I read Day 20 of "50 Days of Faith a This morning, I read Day 20 of "50 Days of Faith and Fitness." "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26 (NIV) Birthdays are often days to reflect on life, how far you've come, how far you (hope) you still get to go. Although you want to focus on the highlight reel, you can get distracted by failures, opportunities missed, days wasted. But part of any journey includes some bumps in the road. "My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." But God. Because of God's strength, we can try again. Because He gives us all that we need, we can get back at it and keep on going. On our own, we will fail. Even with Him, we'll struggle. But He'll be there with strength and with all we have need of to move forward on the path that He's leading. So today, on my 51st birthday, I'll focus on progress over perfection. I'll commit to continuing on the path He's laid before me. Living with purpose. I'm not sure what area in your life you feel like you've messed up, but I know that God has what you need to refocus. Your life and this healthy living journey are never going to be perfect. Be okay with slow and steady progress. There might even be pauses along the way. That’s okay.
