Body and Spirit ~ Sunday Devotional
“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.” 3 John 1:2 (NLT)
To do God’s work, to live the life He’s called us to live, we must be healthy – body and spirit.
Our first priority is a heart that is right with God. But if our physical body suffers, we lack the energy to do the things God has called us to do.
Why do I help women live a healthy life without dieting? SO THAT she can live the life God designed for her.
She has to be fit (healthy, well, feeling good inside and out) but also free (free from diet plans, numbers on a scale, food rules, etc.)
You can’t separate your faith and your fitness.
You can’t separate the care for your body and your spirit.
John wrote this letter to his friend who was called to serve the Lord.
John’s prayer for him was that he was healthy in his body and strong in spirit SO THAT he could do the work God had for him to do.
If you’re not well, you won’t feel like loving and serving in the way God has called you.
If your spirit is suffering, you will struggle to obey God’s direction in your life and believe the good things He says about you.
Being well is not dictated by a number on a scale or a picture perfect life.
It simply means aligning your life in a way that puts God first and has you ready to follow His lead.
How do you do that? Build your healthy life on a foundation of faith.
Happy Sunday!
