Every January is Groundhog Day. People commit to Every January is Groundhog Day. People commit to losing weight and getting healthy by signing up for an extreme plan. Within weeks life begins to happen. Motivation dies. The commitment leaves. Before you know it, another year comes and goes, then it's back to square one repeating the cycle hoping for a different outcome. It just won't happen. That approach that didn't give you lasting results (Oh, it likely worked for a week or two but was never sustainable), will not give you lasting results this year either.
If your healthy living approach feels like Groundhog Day, you can change that today. You can interrupt the cycle by taking a slow sustainable approach. Build your foundation on God's Word. Allow Him to guide how you care for your body. Implement healthy habits one at a time.
The women in my Faith and Fitness Support And Accountability Community decided they weren't going to keep repeating their same mistakes and live in a cycle of defeat. You can join us and have the same kind of success. Doors are open. https://marshaapsley.com/community/

If you retain nothing else, always remember the mo If you retain nothing else, always remember the most important rule of beauty, which is: who cares? ~ Tina Fey
I used to spend way too much time worrying about what others thought of me. I compared myself. I felt as if I was in competition with other women to look better, weigh less, etc.
Eventually I realized that's no way to live. We're made for community not competition. The truth of the matter is that others don't pay that much attention. And if they do, that's an issue that they need to deal with and has nothing to do with me.
When I finally broke free from all that stuff, I started realizing that I just need to feel good in my own skin when I look in the mirror.
Who cares what others think? When you and I show up confidently to live the life God designed for us to live, no one can judge us.
Choose to embrace your age and stage of life, and start showing up confidently to live the life God has called you to. 💙

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human bein "Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10 (NIV)
What is your why?
The week 1 homework for my 1:1 #Moderation365 clients includes spending time finding their why. They've chosen to take a different approach to their health, a lasting approach. The women who choose to do #Moderation365 are ready to heal their relationship with food and their body. They want to stop obsessing about food and their weight and learn to eat the same on Monday as they do on Saturday. They've realized that their calling in life is more than obtaining a number on the scale. They're ready to embrace their age and stage of life.
But having said that all, each one must dig deeply to discover her own why. It's more than getting healthy. Health is the first layer of discovering why. If you don't dig deeper, you won't grasp onto the motivation you're going to need to keep your eyes on your own paper and commit to your journey. You'll get distracted. You'll find yourself signing up for another diet or purchasing a subscription for a shake or supplement.
Spend some time drilling down to your real why. I'm pretty sure it won't be something physical. Share below or message me. I'd love to hear from you. If you want some help finding it, I'm here for you.

{Sunday Devotion - Through You}  “Then the {Sunday Devotion - Through You}

“Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.” Ezekiel 36:23b (NIV)

Do others see Jesus through you? Are you making Him known by the life you’re living?

You and I were created for God’s glory. Our purpose is to know and love Him and then to point others to Jesus. We’ve each been created uniquely so that He can use our particular gifts and talents to glorify Him. We each have a story that likely involves a struggle. That story, that struggle, can be used for others to see Jesus through you.

I hated living in turmoil with my body. I prayed God would take away that struggle. I pleaded with Him to show me His plan for my life. It took a long time for me to realize that this specific struggle had purpose. It would become part of my story and how He would use me to help others get closer to Him and learn how to live fit and free.

Your life’s purpose is not to prove yourself to others based on how you look, what you achieve, how much money you make, etc. Your purpose is to love Jesus and let Him love others through you. Will you allow Him to use you in that special way?

Action Step: Pray the following prayer of St. Francis of Assisi then allow the Lord to do His work through you.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen.

Happy Sunday!

Do you need motivation to make some improvements s Do you need motivation to make some improvements spiritually, mentally, and/or physically?
One key to making lasting change is to become consistent.
Many kicked off 2023 doing something intensely. Most likely it involved something in regards to health or their body. They probably gave up a food or food group, started an extreme diet, or signed up for some challenge at the gym that likely doubled or tripled what they were currently doing.
Intensity is not sustainable. You can be intense for a short amount of time, but you can't remain intense. However, when you choose to do something manageable, you can maintain it over the long-term.
If you're looking to do that and need the motivation to make the changes and become consistent with them, the Faith and Fitness Support and Accountability Community is for you.

"I love the person I've become, because I fought t "I love the person I've become, because I fought to become her." ~ Kaci Diane
What have you done to become the person you are today?
Has it taken some fight?
If you're happy with who you are, celebrate that. Don't be shy about it. You've worked hard to become this person.
If you're not pleased with where you are today, what will you do to change that?
Get back in the fight.
Do you need to incorporate a healthy habit?
Is it a mindset that needs to shift?
Oftentimes, we don't realize the person we are and what we've done to get here.
Too often, we're overly critical and have high expectations.
Can you celebrate something today even if you have areas where you want to grow?
What do you need to do to become a person you love? It might not be easy, but it'll be worth it.
