As you head into a new week possibly feeling compe As you head into a new week possibly feeling compelled to do something "drastic" because it's Monday, and Mondays are for "starting over" or for "getting back on track" or whatever other thing you're used to saying or hearing, know this:
Consistency beats intensity.
Cutting out a food group or planning to hit the gym every day for an hour might happen for a day or a week, but it won't last for the long-term.
Pick one simple thing that you will do today that you can see yourself still doing a week from now, a month from now, 6 months from now. Do that thing today then do it again tomorrow. Those small steps are what will have you "staying on track" so you'll never have to "start over" on a Monday or January 1 or whenever.
What one simple thing will you do today?

“But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” Psalm 3:3 (NIV)

Have you ever wanted to hide? Felt vulnerable and exposed? Have you been discouraged or downcast? Simply felt like you needed protection and a safe haven?

Run to the Lord. He is a place of refuge. He will shield you with His love.

We just wrapped up Mental Health Awareness Month. It makes me think how we often need our hearts and minds to be guarded, protected from fear and doubt. Emotions can be overwhelming. Negative thoughts rage. But the Lord can be a shield for us. With His shield around us, He instills courage within us and gives us strength to persevere.

When you want to hang your head because you’re discouraged or feeling despair, God wants to lift it up. When we find our worth in Christ, He will restore our hope. He is our source and will give us strength to face the challenges of life.

Action Step: If you’re feeling as if life is throwing darts at you, ask the Lord to be your shield. Let Him set a guard around your heart and your mind today. Plant yourself safely in His care.

Happy Sunday!

It’s important to note that God’s Word is a powerful source of strength and can be applied to any and every area of our lives, including our mental health. It is also essential to seek appropriate help when dealing with mental health concerns. I’m a counselor but not your counselor, so I can’t address your specific needs. Caring for your mental health includes various means including therapy and medication. Please utilize all of those available to you.

Every day we're faced with the dilemma of what to Every day we're faced with the dilemma of what to wear. Some put more time in choosing their attire than others. (I'm not one of those😉 ) This week's verse in "A Year of Sundays," tells us how to clothe ourselves daily.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:12-15 (NIV)
What are you wearing? Are you going to God's closet - His Word - to get ready for each day?
It's the last day of #SiRunStreak2023 but #Go1ADay It's the last day of #SiRunStreak2023 but #Go1ADay is just getting started. A little fresh air and movement every day does wonders for your spirit, mind, and body.

I shared this one year ago, so that means I'm now I shared this one year ago, so that means I'm now 2 years removed from this day but it's not far enough away that I don't still feel what you're experiencing. It's going to be okay. You're going to be okay. Your child is going to be okay.
To the Mom of a graduating senior,
I see you.
One year ago, I was where you are today, feeling all the feelings...
Proud of the young man my son was becoming
Optimistic about his future
Grateful that I had been chosen to be his mom
Also...
Questioning everything I had ever done as a mom and wondering if it had been enough
Nervous about all of the unknowns to come
Missing the little boy who snuggled up beside me to read bedtime stories
The emotions came in waves. I know yours are coming now. Let them come. Feel them. Ride those waves.
You've done a great job, and you're still doing a great job. You will continue because you'll always be his mom. And he will always love you, and will need you even when he doesn't want to admit it.
One year from now, you'll be able to exhale. It will go quickly. In fact, this was by far the quickest year of my life. You're going to be okay. But if you question that along the way, just give me a call. We moms gotta stick together

{Sunday Devotion - Think About It} “When I cons {Sunday Devotion - Think About It}
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)
Who do you think you are?
Who does she think she is?
Who am I?
When I really think about it, when I think about the God of the Universe and what He did when He created the heavens and the earth, I start asking those questions about myself. Who do I think I am that God would care about me? Looking at my reflection in the mirror, asking who she thinks she is, a girl full of issues in the middle of nowhere. Who am I that God would be mindful of me? I’m just a speck in this great universe He created.
But when I really think about it, when I consider those questions, I humbly admit that He does see me. I can’t deny special moments when He does something to show me that I am on His mind.* It’s in the money I find on the run. The blue bird I saw on my bike ride last weekend.
He takes time to care for me and about what I’m going through at a given moment. That same God who created the moon and stars will do something special that only I will notice to let me know that He sees me.
Who am I? Who do you think you are? Can it really be that God is mindful of you and me? Yes! Yes, it can!
The writer of Psalm 8 paused to consider this phenomenon. He contemplated the entire creation and then asked, “Who am I?”
I can’t tell you why God decided to invest time and attention in mankind, in you and in me, but He did. He still does. Because of Christ, you and I are so much more than a speck in God’s creation. We are significant to Him. On our own, we aren’t anything special but because of Him, we are a standout. You are a star!
Action Step: Walk outside after the sun goes down and look up at the sky. Among all the stars you can see, pick one. Focus on it. Just like you are zeroing in on one star out of millions and millions, God is looking at you in that same moment as if you are the only one on the earth. What do you need from Him? Tell Him. Be on the lookout for ways He will show you that He sees you.
Happy Sunday!
