Be Prepared ~ Sunday Devotion
Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 2 Peter 3:3 (NLT)
You need to be prepared – to be prepared not only for the distractions from but also for people to mock you for incorporating your faith and your fitness.
Earlier this month, several women committed a few days to get prepared for the coming year. They recognized their need to get their minds right so that they would not fall prey to those who will be coming around at the first of the year with false messages about what it takes to become the best version of yourself.
This passage in 2 Peter is talking about the last days. We don’t know when those days are, but we do know that we have this one life to live. The Lord has entrusted us with one life and one body to live it in. Whether we meet Him in death, or He returns in our lifetimes, we need to be prepared to meet Him. And that means seeking Him instead of seeking weight loss. It also means we need to be prepared for Satan to throw any and every distraction our way trying to make us take our eyes off the prize of heaven and become consumed with superficial things.
This time of year is primetime for the devil to work his scheme with you and get you to take your eyes off of the Lord and onto false promises. I fell into his trap more times than I can count.
Be prepared for people to scoff at your unique approach to health and wellness. It’ll go against the mainstream, but the ways of the Lord always go against the mainstream.
Later in the chapter, Peter writes, “And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.”
When you integrate your faith and your fitness, you’ll find peace. You’ll also be free to embrace your age and stage of life and live it to the fullest.
Are you prepared for the coming year? Are you steadfast in your beliefs? Now is the time to fix your eyes on Jesus and not allow outside noises to distract you.
Action Step: Get prepared by praying and staying in God’s Word. Make your plan now for how you will pursue Him more in 2024. Plant your feet firmly on the path the Lord has paved for you so that you’re not caught off guard.
