Be Patient ~ Sunday Devotional
Patience.
Do I have to talk about this topic?? It’s certainly not one of my strengths. And you know what they say about patience? Don’t pray for it because you’re REALLY gonna be tested. Ha!
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
He is patient with you.
Thank God for His patience! Can I get an “Amen”??
How long did I circle that mountain in the desert trying my own ways to feel better in my body and about myself? All while God’s Word was available to me with truths like I am fearfully and wonderfully made, that His creation was good (which includes you and me!), and that we are loved.
He was patient while I wandered…and still when I mess up. And He is patient with you.
If He is patient with us, shouldn’t we also be patient with ourselves?
How often are we hard on ourselves?
We expect things from ourselves that we wouldn’t expect from others. We set the bar higher than we will ever be able to reach. We judge and speak unkind words to ourselves.
God is patient with you. He loves you. He gives you grace. He’s set this example so that you too will extend that same patience, love, and grace to yourself.
It’s a rough time right now. Life as we know it has turned upside down. God is going to be patient with you. Be patient with yourself.
Happy Sunday!
