Alive in Christ ~ Sunday Devotion
And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:45 (NKJV)
Like Adam, when we are born, we take a breath and become a living being. But when we allow the Spirit of God to fill us we become truly alive, alive in Christ. From day one of our existence, we live. But when we allow the breath of God to breathe in us, we are changed. Being alive in Christ is not just a spiritual concept—it’s lived out in real bodies, real choices, and real days. God’s breath fills us right where we are, in our current season of life.
Are you simply living? The start of a new year tempts us to chase reinvention instead of resurrection. We set goals, clean up habits, promise ourselves this time will be different—yet many of us carry the same weariness into January that we had in December. New calendars don’t create new life. Only Christ does.
Start the year by receiving Christ's love and allowing His Spirit to infiltrate every part of you so that you can become fully alive. Share on XWhat better time than the beginning of a new year to receive the light of Christ into your heart? Jesus often met people while they were moving—walking roads, stepping away from crowds, breathing open air. Following Him was never meant to be stagnant. When we step outside, when we move our bodies, when we quiet ourselves enough to notice God’s presence, we make room for His life to rise up in us again.
No diet. No amount of weight loss. No goal achieved will fulfill you the way Christ will. Not until you receive His love and allow His Spirit to infiltrate your very being will you become fully alive. The latest diet trends promise control, but Christ offers freedom. And life with Him doesn’t demand perfection—it invites consistency. Small daily yeses. A body treated with care instead of criticism. A faith practiced in every step. This is how we stop merely existing and start embracing our age and stage of life and living fully alive in Christ.
Action Step: Today, step outside and move your body for ten minutes—walk, stretch, breathe deeply. As you move, pray simply: “Lord, fill me with Your life.” No goals. No tracking. Just presence. Let this be your first small yes of the year—a rhythm you can return to again and again.
Happy Sunday!
